<image:caption>Once abandoned, a foundry – where fire melts metal into machinery – becomes a sea of scraps, subject to centuries of gradual shapeshifting.By disobeying the instructions of my smart phone’s panorama mode, digital discontinuities are generated within the environment, accelerating its disintegration. In translating pixels to paint, the forms are further distorted through my own optical limitations – a kind of analog glitch. Waves of corrugated rust crash and meld, shrapnel dissolves into sky, stray tendrils reach out of the tangle, the familiar veers into abstraction. Part of an ongoing series of panoramic paintings re: how technology affects our embodied experience.</image:caption>
